Stay Safe, Stay Healthy and Get Active At Home

Welcome back after the Easter break. Whilst the sun is still shining, it’s the perfect time to keep active – whether it’s during a work break or in between home learning activities – there are so many things you can do at home needing very little or even no equipment at all.

We are all encouraged to do about 60 minutes of physical activity each day to help keep us physically and mentally healthy which, during this challenging time, is even more important.  So to help encourage children (and adults) to keep active throughout the week, the Sports Partnership have created a weekly activity log to track individual successes each day.  Alternatively, the Herts Sports Partnership have created an interactive Family activity tracker which can be used to create a bit of competitiveness at home too! 🙂 (download the trackers below)

Many of you will have tried Joe Wicks’ ‘Daily PE lessons’, but it’s good to vary the activities you do.  To help inspire you, here are some websites to check out with lots of great ideas.

Have you tried the SSP Virtual Challenge Competition yet? These are creative weekly challenges that need no equipment at all – posted at the beginning of each week on our website as well as emailed to you.

The Youth Sports Trust – lots of great ideas and resources.

Sport England – https://www.sportengland.org/stayinworkout#get_active_at_home – links to numerous free apps including ‘Cosmic Kids Yoga’ and many more.

We hope you find something to keep you all active during the school closures, but most importantly, we want you to stay healthy and have fun!

We look forward to seeing you all soon but, in the meantime, if you would like to share with us some of the challenges and activities you have tried, or in fact any ideas for others to try, please contact me via the school admin email.

Keep smiling,

Miss Sedgwick
