Keyboard skills resource

You wouldn’t be expected to write a sentence without being shown: how to hold a pencil; how to print a letter; how to write cursively or how to develop your handwriting style, would you?

So it makes sense that if we are going to learn how to use a computer, we need to learn how to type! We’ll be giving some time over, in Computing, to use this website to help improve our keyboard skills. The key to success with typingclub is, as a wise man once said, don’t do it ’til you get it right, do it ’til you don’t get it wrong’. You need to build your memory skills so that your fingers remember where to go, and so that you never look at the keyboard. I’ve been trying whilst typing this and its vert challenfing (as you can see).

Do continue doing this at home; there isn’t enough time in the school day to get really good at it – but we can make a start!
