How do songs link to our ethos?

I think the work you all did to develop the ethos has lead to some incredibly powerful themes: Community Wellbeing, Attitude to Learning, Powerful Knowledge. So powerful, in fact, that they can be linked to a huge variety of positive songs and themes across a range of morals, religions and cultures – even Hollywood!

On Tuesday, the school reflected on some of the songs in the film, The Greatest Showman. We discussed what the songs meant to the children and how that may link to the ethos. Here are our thoughts – what do you think?

The Greatest Show – Attitude to Learning – “He challenges himself to go for his targets”
Million Dreams – Community Wellbeing.. “They support each other such as the lady with the apple and also his wife.” And Attitude to Learning… “It’s about having goals and not giving up and taking chances (the selling papers and train building etc.)”
Come alive – Attitude to Learning – “He is dreaming with his eyes wide open…” Community Wellbeing – “They all support each other.” Attitude to Learning- “You have to believe in yourself.”
Other Side– Attitude to Learning – “Take a risk. Try something you’ve never done… maybe a mistake but that’s ok.”
Never Enough – Community Wellbeing “People and relationships and community more important than fame or money.”
This is me – Community Wellbeing and Attitude to learning and Powerful Knowledge… “Finding my own voice.”
