The Green Man was believed by Pagans, Greeks and Egyptians to be the spirit of nature and trees. You can find The Green Man carved out of wood or stone in medieval churches and cathedrals. He is known as the keeper of the forest and woods.
How did The Green Man get into medieval churches and cathedrals? It is believed that the Christians put carvings of The Green Man on the walls to help the pagans feel at home. The idea of The Green Man has travelled the world for 2,500 years. He is the symbol of the cycle of life and of new beginnings
